A storm on the sea will eventually calm down but it is only those who remain afloat during the storm that will be able to move when serenity come. No matter how tough live situations and challenges are, they will calm down one day, but if you don’t persist long enough, you might give up and die before the calm comes.
Despite how impossible you think becoming successful or great is, if you persist, it is certain that you will be successful and great. Things might not turn out the way we planned, or what we want may not come when we expected. We might not get to where we wanted at the time we set, but always, it is certain that we will get to where we wanted, do what we planned, and get what we wanted, if and only if we persist.
When nothing turns out the way we planned, quitting might be the easiest, but never the smartest thing to do. It might be the most compelling but never the most rewarding action to take.
When the going gets tough, it is not time to quit, it is time to remain persistent, because quitters never win, but persistent people do. And, "tough times never last, but tough people do", Robert H. Schuller
Life can be so unfavourable and uninteresting to you, but if you persist, stand still, and never give up, life will become very interesting beyond your wides dreams.
The reason you should never quit attempting, trying or pressing forward, is because you don’t know how loss you are to success. You might just be a metre away from success and you don’t know. Maybe your next attempt is the successful one. But if you give up before that attempt, you will never become successful or your success will be prolonged. Don’t give up. Keep at what you are doing. Persist, and success is guaranteed!
The following story will inspire you to persist.
“ A group of skiers, who camped on a skiing site,
went all at once to ski.
John, one of the skiers, wanted to try a steep slope.
So he asked the group,“does anyone want to ski down that slope?” The entire group refused; but fearless as he was,
John went down the slope on his own.
An hour later as he skied, he fell
through a crack and wounded his arm.
His blood froze around his arm. He needed to get
back so
he walked when he couldn’t ski, and
crawled when he couldn’t walk.
Every move forward was painful.
He wanted to give up. But he kept at it.
After seventeen miles of painful crawling,
he gave up.
His body froze and minutes later, he died.
Next day, the storm had passed.
Skiers woke up and one step from the
camp they found a body. It was John’s.”
~ Told by Dr. Robert Gilbert.
Important Quotes
“Most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game, one foot from a winning touchdown.”
~ H. Ross Perot
“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”~ Thomas Edison
“The ultimate measure of a person is not where he or she stands in moments of comfort, but where he or she stands in times of challenges and controversy.”
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not, the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will the problems of the human race.”
~ Calvin Coolidge,
30th US President
“When the going gets tough, get tougher, and success will open
her hands wide enough to
embrace you.”~ ebb (Benneth Ebilabo)
